Therapeutic Parenting
Therapeutic Parenting is a parenting style that is commonly used for foster carers, adopters, guardians and kinship carers who are looking after children who may have suffered trauma. Therapeutic parenting bases its style on consistent, empathetic, and insightful responses to a child’s distress and behaviour. The therapeutic parenting style promotes parents on developing their children to self-regulate, develop an understanding of their own behaviour and form secure attachments.
This webinar explores what developmental trauma is, how it effects behaviour and how therapeutic parenting aids children. It also provides the basic ‘need-to-know’ of therapeutic parenting and equips viewers with a solid foundation to build from with skills and tips.
