About us

My Forever Family NSW is a program funded by the NSW Government and operated by Adopt Change, in collaboration with Professor Paul Chandler, Early Start (University of Wollongong) and Continuum Consulting.

My Forever Family recruits, supports and train carers throughout the carer and parenting journey, including guardians, adoptive parents, short term and restoration foster carers (to look after children until they can return home to birth family), long term carers and relative/kin carers.

Most children in care have come from difficult and challenging family situations.  Many are dealing with the ongoing impacts of neglect, abuse, parental drug and alcohol misuse, and domestic violence.

My Forever Family works to equip carers and adoptive parents with specialised support, information and skills in order to provide these children with the care and nurture that they need.  Our Carer Support Team provides advice, information and support via our care support telephone line and email.  The program draws on feedback received from carers, non government organisations and the sector and is continually tailored to support the journey for all involved.

My Forever Family provides carer training across the state, include remote and regional areas, in person and online.

We are the first point of contact for potential carers and guardians, providing them with information about fostering, permanent care and adoption. My Forever Family works closely with  the Department of Family and Community Services, and with accredited foster care and adoption agencies throughout NSW, to ensure that there is a pool of quality carers available across the state.

Through our engagement with the state government and within the child welfare sector, we advocate for systemic change on behalf of carers and the children they care for.

My Forever Family is committed to providing equitable access and culturally appropriate support for all carers including Aboriginal and culturally and linguistically diverse carers.
