Advocacy

My Forever Family works with carers, government, peaks and non-government organisations in the out-of-home care sector to create an improved experience for carers, and to achieve better outcomes for children.

Individual advocacy

A large part of My Forever Family's work is to support and equip carers. Requests for support cover a range of carer concerns including removal of children or young people from a carers’ home, support payment issues, allegations or a breakdown in communication with a case manager.

Our approach towards individual advocacy is to help carers to have their voice heard in matters that not only affect them but also the children and young people in their care.

If you are a potential or current carer, please contact us for advice and support regarding your care experience. Our carer support team can provide you with information or direct you to relevant resources. 

Our Carer Support phone line 1300 782 975 is available 9am – 7pm Monday to Friday and messages can be left at any time, or messages can be sent via email or our online form. 

Systemic advocacy

My Forever Family aims to create systemic change and be a voice for foster carers, kinship carers, guardians and adoptive parents of children from out of home care in NSW.

Through our engagement with the state government and within the child welfare sector we work to influence positive changes to systems and processes. Our goal is to create a system that achieves the best possible outcomes for carers and children in out-of-home care.
